Goat farming has traditionally been an integral part of rural life in Indian villages, but in recent years it has emerged as a profitable enterprise embraced by progressive youths seeking sustainable livelihoods. Among various breeds, the Black Bengal goat stands out for its high market value, excellent meat quality, and strong adaptability, making it a preferred choice for farmers. In 2021, our organization supported 70 farmers by distributing 210 goats, and within just one year the goat population tripled, generating an additional income of Rs. 15,000–20,000 for each beneficiary. Encouraged by this success, the organization now aims to expand the initiative across West Bengal, with a strong emphasis on promoting fodder cultivation to ensure better nutrition and productivity of the animals. With a forward-looking vision, the long-term goal is to scale up production to 100,000 goats annually, strengthening rural economies and creating sustainable income opportunities for farming communities.
