Bee farming is rapidly emerging as a profitable livelihood option, driven by growing international demand for honey and its high value in Ayurveda for its medicinal and therapeutic properties. Although India has vast potential in this sector, honey production, processing, and marketing are still evolving, even with the support of government initiatives through the Bee Board to promote modern bee culture. Recognizing these opportunities, experts are encouraging rural youth to adopt beekeeping at the village level, where low investment and high returns make it an attractive enterprise. In line with this vision, the organization has established infrastructure across 76 villages to facilitate large-scale honey production aimed at both domestic and export markets. With strengthened training, support systems, and modern techniques, the initiative is steadily progressing toward its goal of producing 70 metric tonnes of honey annually, creating sustainable income avenues and boosting rural economic development.
